My vision for Ward 7
Discover what makes Ward 7 special and how we can build a thriving community together. Learn about the opportunities, challenges, and solutions we will pursue to make Caledonia an even better place to live.

The unique opportunity for Ward 7
Ward 7 is brand new, offering a rare opportunity to shape what representation looks like from the very beginning. This new ward unites long-established neighbourhoods with newer communities, each bringing their own experiences, ideas, and hopes for Caledonia. There is a real chance to learn from one another, strengthen connections, and ensure everyone feels included in the conversation.
We can also be more thoughtful about what makes a neighbourhood feel like home. It is more than just houses—it includes schools close to families, roads and infrastructure that support daily life, housing options for different ages and needs, and parks, trails, and gathering spaces where neighbours can become friends.
We already have so much to build on: our river and green spaces, local businesses, community organizations, and people who genuinely care about one another. The opportunity is to make Ward 7 more than just a collection of neighbourhoods; it should feel like a true community.

Top priorities for Ward 7
Building a Complete Community
Ward 7 includes established streets, newer neighbourhoods, rural homes and working farms. A complete community recognizes that these areas have different needs—and that decisions made in one part of the ward can affect people living in another.
We will work toward:
- Better traffic flow and safer travel through town and along rural roads.
- Clear planning for roads, wastewater capacity and other essential services.
- Parks, trails, green spaces and gathering places that are completed as promised.
- Strong advocacy for schools located close to the families they serve.
- Planning decisions that consider existing neighbourhoods, rural residents and farming operations.
Supporting Rural Life and Agriculture
Farmland is not simply open space. It is where people live, work, raise families and operate businesses that contribute to our local economy and identity.
We will work toward:
- Protecting agricultural land through thoughtful planning decisions.
- Maintaining rural roads, bridges and drainage systems.
- Considering farm equipment, transportation routes and the seasonal realities of farming.
- Supporting local agriculture and agricultural businesses.
- Making sure rural residents and farmers are included early when decisions could affect their properties or livelihoods.

Making Room for Every Stage of Life
A healthy community should offer different housing options for different stages of life. Young adults, families, seniors and adults with disabilities do not all need the same type of home.
Housing is complicated, and no councillor can promise to lower market prices or guarantee that specific homes will be built. What council can do is influence local planning policies, consider what new proposals contribute to the community and pursue partnerships that create more options.
I would use my role to:
- Support planning policies that allow for rentals, smaller homes and accessible housing where appropriate.
- Consider whether housing proposals respond to the needs identified by Haldimand residents—not only how many units they add.
- Encourage partnerships with nonprofit housing providers and other levels of government.
- Keep the needs of seniors and adults with disabilities included in housing discussions.
- Ask for clear information about what is considered “affordable,” who it will be affordable for and how long it will remain that way.
I cannot promise homes that a councillor does not have the power to build. I can make sure the County uses the tools it does have and that people with limited housing options are not forgotten.

A successful Ward 7 in the future
To me, a successful Ward 7 is one where people feel at home—and feel confident about where their community is headed.
It feels safe, welcoming and connected. Neighbours know one another, families feel secure putting down roots, and both long-time residents and newcomers feel proud to call this community home.
Success also means bringing stability and clarity to the council table. Residents may not agree with every decision, but they should understand what is happening, why decisions are being made and what comes next. They should have confidence that plans are realistic, concerns are being taken seriously and commitments will be followed through.
Most importantly, people should feel that their community is in capable hands. A successful Ward 7 is not defined by dramatic promises—it is reflected in the everyday confidence that our community is safe, well represented and moving forward with care.
